Approaches to Learning (ATL) Skills: Throughout all three IB programmes, students develop essential Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, including communication, social, self-management, research, and critical thinking. These skills equip students to become independent, lifelong learners capable of navigating an increasingly complex world.

IB Learner Profile: Our IB programmes are grounded in the IB Learner Profile, which aims to develop students who are Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective.

Concept-Based and Inquiry-Led Learning: We emphasize concept-based and inquiry-led learning, guiding students to explore big ideas and engage with complex questions. This approach fosters deep understanding, critical thinking, and the ability to apply knowledge in varied contexts.

Benefits for Students: The IB programmes at ISL Qatar offer a broad and balanced curriculum, fostering critical thinking and preparing students for global citizenship. These programmes ensure that students not only meet but exceed global academic standards.

Alternative Graduation Pathways: ISL Qatar also offers a High School Certificate authorized by the Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education. This certificate provides an alternative graduation pathway, enabling students to enter universities in Qatar and overseas. This pathway ensures that all students have access to further education opportunities tailored to their individual goals and aspirations.

Multilingualism: Language is at the heart of learning at ISL Qatar. Although the language of instruction is English, mother tongue literacy is supported from an early age. Beginning with the four-year-olds, between 3 to 5 class periods of mother tongue or Language Acquisition lessons are provided each week within the class day. Current mother tongue languages include Arabic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Russian, Turkish, and Swedish. We are constantly adding more languages depending on need and availability. Our commitment to multilingualism not only enhances cognitive skills but also deepens cultural understanding and empathy, preparing our students to be global citizens who are fluent in more than one language.

Recognizing and Embracing Our Host Country: At ISL Qatar, we celebrate the diversity of our community, which includes students from 80 different nationalities. We strive to include all cultures, backgrounds, and languages in our educational approach. In addition to our IB programmes, we offer separate curricula for Qatar History and Islamic Studies in both English and Arabic, ensuring that students gain a deep understanding and appreciation of the local traditions and values of Qatar. All students also have the opportunity to learn Arabic, further enhancing their connection to the language and culture of Qatar. ISL Qatar equips all students with the skills and motivation to contribute positively to society, in line with Qatar's National Vision 2030 for an Educated Population.

Inclusive and Personalized Education: ISL Qatar is committed to equitable, personalized, and inclusive learning principles and practices for all students. Our curriculum is fully aligned both vertically and horizontally, accommodating individual needs and promoting equitable and challenging learning experiences. In collaboration with Next Frontier Inclusion (NFI), we ensure that our practices and policies reflect the latest in inclusive education. Our personalized approach ensures that each student’s individual needs are met, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose. Additionally, ISL Qatar ensures that students feel they have a say in their learning, can make choices about how they learn, and take ownership of their learning journey. We also help students experience a successful transition during key points in their learning journey, promoting a strong sense of belonging.

Community and Global Citizenship: Our students are encouraged to engage with their local and global communities. Through service learning, cultural exchanges, and real-world problem-solving, they develop into compassionate global citizens ready to make a positive impact. ISL Qatar equips all students with the skills and motivation to contribute positively to society, in line with Qatar's National Vision 2030 for an Educated Population.

Social and Emotional Well-Being: ISL Qatar implements evidence-based strategies to support students' social and emotional well-being, fostering positive behavior, healthy relationships, and a safe school environment. We believe that well-being is integral to academic success and personal growth. Dedicated school counselors are present in all sections, guiding students in their social-emotional development. In the Primary Years Programme (PYP), students engage in Philosophy for Children (P4C) sessions to build critical thinking and ethical reasoning skills. In Middle School (MS) and High School (HS), Community Time supports Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Approaches to Learning (ATLs), Service as Action/CAS, and digital citizenship. High School counselors also assist students with university and career planning, ensuring they are well-prepared for future opportunities. Community Time further encourages student agency (voice, choice, and ownership) and participation in student council activities.

Technology and Digital Age Curriculum: At ISL Qatar, we embrace the digital age by integrating technology throughout our curriculum. Our approach equips students with the digital literacy and critical thinking skills needed for success in an increasingly connected world. We leverage the power of learning analytics through our partnership with the Learning Analytics Collaborative (LAC), allowing us to use custom data visualizations and secure platforms to reveal new patterns, provoke questions, and inform action, ultimately enhancing learning outcomes for all students. By June 2027, ISL Qatar will have fully implemented a Digital Age Curriculum, with success measured by student outcomes in adaptability, responsibility, and digital literacy.
