No. ISL Qatar is authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization as an IB World School to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to ages 3 to 18. 

ISL Qatar admits students on a rolling basis throughout the school year subject to seat availability and compliance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar.

In addition to the application requirements, students transferring from schools abroad (Applicable for Grade 2 students and up) should provide an electronic copy of the latest end-of-academic-year school report (clearly stating the   completed grade). The report should be:

- Translated to English or Arabic.

- Stamped and attested by the Qatari Embassy / Consulate in the issuing country.

- Stamped and attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the issuing country.

- Stamped and attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar.

For all students joining after the end of the first term, the above attestation requirements apply to the first-term report of the current academic year and for all grade levels.

To be admitted to ISL Qatar, all students need to be assessed. Academic acceptance will be based upon the correlative data from the assessment combined with data from school/nursery reports, confidential teacher recommendations, and interviews.

At ISL Qatar students are assigned to classes primarily based on age (see Grade Level Placement here and according to the Qatari Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s Equivalency table for different curriculums.

ISL Qatar has a specialist Learning Support Team that supports students with a range of academic, emotional and language needs. Parents of applicants with a specific need must submit complete reports with the application. These may include Individualised Education Programs (IEPs), Educational Psychologist reports, Occupational or speech and language reports. The school will only admit students whose specific academic, physical, or other learning needs can be provided for by the existing resources and personnel at the school. Students who require additional Learning Support may be admitted if it is believed that the school can offer an appropriate level of support and that the child can be placed in the regular mainstream classroom. 

The primary language of instruction at ISL Qatar is English. Students are given the opportunity to develop their Home Language (if offered and subject to availability) or to choose a Language Acquisition as an additional language. 

What is a Home Language?

A Home Language refers to a child’s first or native language, the language spoken and learned at home (both in spoken and written form) from a family member. We are currently offering the following Home Languages in most but not all grades. They include Arabic, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, and Swedish. 

Starting from Grade 1, all students who choose a Home Language will be assessed to establish their language proficiency in the chosen language and to determine their suitability to join.

What is Language Acquisition?

Language Acquisition refers to a language that is not the child’s Home Language. In our Primary School, we currently offer Spanish and French Acquisition. In Middle and High Schools, our program includes Arabic Acquisition in addition to Spanish and French. 

For all Home Languages except French, Spanish, and Arabic, we apply an extra fee which is pro-rated should a student join mid-year. 

Language Acquisition: No Fee

The school day starts at 7:45 am and ends at 2:25 pm every day except on Tuesdays where it ends at 12:05 pm.

While at ISL Qatar we do not have a school uniform, we do have a Physical & Health Education (PHE) uniform. Students are encouraged to wear the ISL Qatar PHE polo shirt along with any navy blue, comfortable bottoms on days when they have PHE lessons.
