Her Excellency, Ivonne Baki, Ambassador of Ecuador, graciously agreed to come and speak to the Grade 5 students about her life and passions.

Her Excellency’s many achievements include; establishing the Art for Peace exhibition at Harvard University and inviting Israeli and Palestinian artists to exhibit their work together, maintaining faith in the belief that peace can be reached within the Middle East, negotiating a peace agreement between Ecuador and Peru during the war of ‘95, passionately advocating for the protection of the environment; Galapagos Islands and the Yasuni National Park, setting up the Beyond Boundaries Foundation to eradicate river blindness in Ecuador and being the former president of the Andean Parliament.

H.E. was also a part of our Sixth annual International Family Food Fair which took place on Saturday, 2nd March representing Ecuador.

Her passion, strength, humility and tireless belief in the importance of taking action provided our students with a sense of what is possible when one person is willing to stand up for what they care about.

“Change happens with everybody… if we want to make a difference to the world, it’s through people, through you, through the grass roots, through people that really care…” (Her Excellency, Ivonne Baki, Ambassador of Ecuador)
