The International School of London (ISL) Qatar students participated in the Qatar Leadership Conference (QLC) as part of THIMUN held on October 17-19, 2019. The conference is a platform for developing and demonstrating leadership skills in various aspects such as MUN, SDG Goal advocacy, Public Speaking and Social Activism.
Several students have been selected as Student Officers for the upcoming international MUN conference THIMUN Qatar, to be held in the month of January 2020. These students are Tanya Dwivedi, Sebastian Santoni and Raseel Al Thawadi from Grade 11, who will be attending the leadership conference for training and preparation of THIMUN Qatar 2020. From Grade 12, Thomas Freundt and Arkan De Lomas will be attending, while Charlotte Thu Le will be presenting.
THIMUN Qatar offers one of the largest professional development conferences in the Middle East. The Qatar Leadership Conference (QLC) is designed around the concept of developing student leadership within schools specifically in MUN, service and activism, and media studies. Students and teachers participate together in workshops and conference activities. Over 130 unique workshops are offered over two and a half days, bringing together internationally renowned thought leaders, local professionals and educators, and most importantly, globally minded students wishing to further their ability to be leaders in their community.
The QLC has also become an important an annual meeting place for globally connected young people and MUN thought leaders to exchange ideas and develop partnerships. This is the eighth year that the school has supported the participation, and as the years have passed the students from ISL Qatar have grown from leadership participants to now participating as presenters and also getting trained for student officer roles for THIMUN Qatar.
