The International School of London Qatar (ISL Qatar), now celebrating 10 years, hosted its fifth annual Winter Carnival at its campus in North Duhail on 1st December. The school’s atrium, gym and playground were transformed into a winter wonderland. The event attracted over 1000 visitors from the student body, parents and the ISL Qatar community.
The crowd enjoyed musical performances by the talented choir of ISL Qatar as well as student Rock Band who performed some of their well-known pieces. With more than 50 unique vendors selling arts, crafts and baked goods, they contributed to making the fifth edition of the ISL Qatar Winter Carnival the most successful thus far.
A vendor commented “This is the first time I'm taking part as a vendor in the school event. It was fabulous and great!”. The ISL Qatar’s Student Council also organized several activities for the visitors, including henna, face painting, snow bowling and games. Visitors enjoyed delicious savouries and loved the sight of live Shawarma station.
The playground was turned into an outdoor lounge where visitors came to enjoy coffee and hot chocolate. As part of the ISL Qatar focus on charitable activities, the proceeds of the Winter Carnival were donated to ISL Qatar’s charitable actions. From the funds raised, ISL Qatar will be donating QR 10,000 to Qatar Charity.
“We express our gratitude to our students, parents and ISL Qatar community for being a part of a wonderful afternoon and a great cause. It is one of our values to focus on charitable activities. We try to instil these values in our students. We look forward to welcoming the community to our future events.” said David Monk, Head of School.
