International School of London Qatar Celebrates The Arabic Language

The International School of London (ISL) Qatar hosted its first Arabic Week to celebrate the Arabic language and culture with its students. The objective of this exciting week was to motivate the students to read Arabic books and to emphasize the importance of learning through play.

During the week, primary students were thinkers and communicators, as they created their own activities in Arabic. The students shared their ideas, knowledge and learned new concepts through play.

Arabic Book Fair

One of the popular activities that was enjoyed by the students was visiting the Arabic book fair containing over 1,000 books. Parents and staff also read stories to the students whereas the younger students recited books and poems and performed songs for the parents and other students.

ISL Qatar also held an Arabic primary assembly where students reflected their understanding for their units of inquiry through stories, songs, and poems. In order to  encourage students to read Arabic books and to enhance their analyzing and presenting skills, the Arabic department also arranged for the Arabic Rogue Readers where students presented their books of choice.

The last day of the eventful week held two events: the Live Museum and a visit from the Awqaf Ministry. Grade 8 students embodied several Arabic characters from different fields they are interested in and presented to the parents and staff. The other event was a session with the visitor from Awqaf Ministry to teach students about morals and values in order to enhance these values and to promote respect between students.
