Support for Lebanon

Catherine Chiuco

It is with great sadness that we learned about the tragic events in Lebanon last week and the traumatic consequences that are still unravelling there.

It is with great sadness that we learned about the tragic events in Lebanon last week and the traumatic consequences that are still unravelling there.

We want to join the global community to express our deepest condolences to all the victims, their friends and relatives during these unprecedented difficult times, and we are proud that so many members of our school communities have come forward to offer their condolences and support.

Both ISL London and ISL Qatar will be joining forces in a concerted effort to support our immediate colleagues, students and their families. We also want to extend our hands to those displaced and most vulnerable victims: the children of Lebanon.

Today, the disastrous outcome of the explosion is attracting the attention and immediate support from all corners of the world. In a few months when attention fades and the assistance provision decreases, we are concerned many children will remain just as distressed and in need of aid.

With this in mind, we have decided that a suitable form of support would be to set up a relief fund we will use to assist in the rebuilding of one of the many schools that have been entirely demolished by the blast.

If you would like to contribute, to assist in other ways, participate or learn more about this project, please contact either Claudine Hakim (chakim@isllondon.org) in London or Louise Mills (lmills@islqatar.org) in Qatar who are coordinating the relief fund initiative.
