Secondary Leadership Team
Nick holds an MSc in Educational Leadership from Leicester University, a PGCE from Swansea University and a BSc in Mathematics & Management Sciences from Manchester University. Nick brings with him a wealth of international experience in leadership. Over the past four years, Nick has worked at the Dulwich College Shanghai as Deputy Headmaster of College with oversight for a wide-range of areas including curriculum articulation and professional learning. Before that, he was the Head of Secondary at the British International School in Phuket. Nick is British.
Anna has 15 years of teaching experience in England and Qatar and holds a BA Hons degree in Geography and Marketing. She currently teaches Diploma Business Management and Theory of Knowledge and has previously taught Diploma Geography and MYP Individuals and Societies. Since start at International School of London Qatar in 2011, Anna has been promoted several times over her 9 years in ISL Qatar from classroom teacher to her current position as IB Diploma Coordinator. She has two children who were born in Qatar and she is delighted that they both attend ISL Qatar.
Helen has been in international education for over 20 years – in Tokyo, Dar es Salaam, Cairo and Lusaka – and has been fortunate to combine two of her passions: teaching English and the IB MYP. Twenty years on, she continues to enjoy meeting the daily challenges of teaching MYP students of differing abilities, attitudes, cultures and socio-economic situations.
Helen is the MYP coordinator at the International School of London, Qatar. Currently, she is an IB workshop leader and a reviewer for the IB's Building Quality Curriculum service. Helen holds a Masters in Education (Merit) from the University of Bath; and PGCE (Distinction) from the Institute of Education, University of London.
Sarah is from Birmingham in the UK and achieved a BEcon in Business Studies and Law from Aberystwyth University in Wales. She has been teaching for 12 years both in the UK and Qatar. In the 9 years Sarah has been at ISL Qatar, she has been an MYP Maths Teacher, an MYP Homeroom Teacher and an MYP Pastoral Leader.
In her current role at ISL Qatar is teacher of DP Maths Studies, DP Maths Applications and Interpretations and DP Business Management. Sarah is also the DP Leader of Student Development.
Jenny holds a BA in American Studies from Lancaster University and a PGCE in History from Newcastle University. She is currently working towards the completion of her MA in Education from Bath University.
Having studied in the UK, Ghana and North Carolina, Jenny arrived in Qatar in 2008 and was one of the founding teachers of the International School of London Qatar. In her eleven years here, she has taught MYP Individuals and Societies, DP History and been a Personal Project Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor. She has also been a Pastoral Leader for the past seven years, a role that has taught her much about the achievements and challenges facing teenagers at the school. She is currently the Leader of Student Development for Grades 9 & 10.
Sophia holds a MSc degree in Teaching Biology with New Technologies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a BSc Honours degree in Zoology with Marine Zoology from Bangor University, Wales, UK. Sophia has taught Biology, Integrated Sciences, Geography, Individual and Societies, and Sports Exercise and Health Science during her career in Europe and the Middle East. Sophia is married and a proud mother of three sons. When not teaching, Sophia enjoys practicing yoga, swimming and cooking. Sophia is Greek.
Although born in The Netherlands, Marieke lived overseas longer than she has lived in her home country. She has worked and lived in the UAE, Indonesia, The Netherlands, USA, Azerbaijan and Qatar. Marieke studied Social Science and Anthropology at Utrecht University and worked as a professional photographer for a number of years. It was not until later in life when she went back to school in the USA receiving her BA in Education. She worked for a number of years at the International School in Azerbaijan where she combined her love for teaching with the rewarding pastoral work. In 2018 Marieke moved to Doha with her husband and three boys and joined the rich and diverse ISL community. Marieke enjoys the outdoors, travelling and spending time with her family.
