Helen Jeffery, Head of Secondary

Helen has been in international education for over 20 years – in Tokyo, Dar es Salaam, Cairo and Lusaka – and has been fortunate to combine two of her passions: teaching English and the IB MYP. Twenty years on, she continues to enjoy meeting the daily challenges of teaching MYP students of differing abilities, attitudes, cultures and socio-economic situations.

Currently, she is an IB workshop leader and a reviewer for the IB's Building Quality Curriculum service. Helen holds a Masters in Education (Merit) from the University of Bath; and PGCE (Distinction) from the Institute of Education, University of London.


Jackie Isherwood, DP Coordinator

Jackie has been teaching for over 20 years. She has taught both in the UK and internationally. Educated in the United Kingdom, she hold as BA (Hons) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She is currently working towards the completion of her Masters in Education with the University of Bath. Jackie joined ISL Qatar in 2014. She believes in the importance of education as a means of developing our understanding of the world in which we live and in enabling us to become responsible global citizens. Her hobbies include cooking and learning Spanish.


Smita Shetty, MYP Coordinator

As an educator, Smita Shetty is passionate about learning. She enjoys balancing creativity and science. Her two passions are Biology and Theatre. She has been an educator in her home country, India, for both Drama and Biology. She has worked in the Indian national curriculum, IGCSE and has been an international educator for more than a decade. She has worked across the spectrum of the International Baccalaureate Programmes as a PYP Drama Specialist, MYP Science and Biology teacher, DP Biology, DP Sports, Exercise and Heath Science as well as a Theory of Knowledge facilitator. She enjoys guiding students through the Diploma core - Extended Essay - and the MYP5 Personal Project journey. She is also a DP Biology Examiner. 

Smita joined International School of London Qatar in 2012. She encourages and facilitates student-led extra-curricular activities such as the Model United Nations, Debate Club (Qatar Debate Tournaments) and hopes to inspire learners to be part of advocating the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She works actively with the Student Council leadership team to enhance student voice and student agency within the community. 

Smita was educated in Mumbai, India and holds a M.Sc. in Biochemistry, B.Sc. Life Sciences and Biochemistry and Bachelors in Education (B.Ed.). She has a LTCL Diploma (UK - Level 6 on the RQF; Undergraduate Degree), Trinity College London for Speech and Drama and is a certified yoga teacher.


Jennifer Besford, Leader of Student Development for G11 & G12

Jenny holds a BA in American Studies from Lancaster University and a PGCE in History from Newcastle University. She is currently working towards the completion of her MA in Education from Bath University.

Having studied in the UK, Ghana and North Carolina, Jenny arrived in Qatar in 2008 and was one of the founding teachers of the International School of London Qatar. In her eleven years here, she has taught MYP Individuals and Societies, DP History and been a Personal Project Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor. She has also been a Pastoral Leader for the past seven years, a role that has taught her much about the achievements and challenges facing teenagers at the school. She is currently the Leader of Student Development for Grades 11 & 12.


Lynette Brink, Leader of Student Development for G9 & G10

Lynette is a Physics teacher with 30 years' experience.  She has taught for 26 years in South Africa (which is also her home country) and joined the ISL Qatar team in 2016.  Currently she teaches DP Physics and MYP Science.  Lynette was Head of the Science department in South Africa, which included pastoral responsibilities. 

Thirty years on she still has a passion for teaching and enjoys the challenges and fulfilment of teaching students from a diverse background. 

Lynette holds a Bachelor of Science and a Higher Education Diploma from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. 


Moneeb Minhas (Leader of Learning Design MYP & DP / Leader of G7 & G8 Student Development )

Moneeb holds a BA Honors degree in Architecture from Leeds Beckett University and a PGCE in Design and Technology from the University of Manchester. He has taught a wide variety of creative subjects such as Design, ICT, Media, Robotics and Computer Science. Moneeb has worked in both private and state schools in the United Kingdom, and has remained as a Managing Trustee and Creative Curriculum Coordinator of a private academy in Sheffield, UK. He has been at the International School of London for over five years now and has been leading the Design department for a number of years. He has commenced the DP Design program at ISL and redeveloped the curriculum in MYP to incorporate Computer science and the latest digital technologies.  He holds four middle leadership certificates and is currently doing an MA in education with the University of Bath.  

Moneeb currently holds two leadership roles at ISL: He is the Leader of Learner for Design and Computer Science and the Leader of Student Development for Grades 7 & 8. His greatest enjoyment though, lies in being in the classroom and teaching his MYP and DP classes. 

When not teaching, Moneeb enjoys spending his time with his family, reading, watching movies and travelling the world. 


Ahmed El Hadidi, Leader of Student Development for G6, Arabic Speaking Students Community Liaison

Ahmed obtained a doctorate in Arabic Language and Literature from the university of Al Mansoura. He also holds a Diploma in Education from the same University.  

Ahmed has extensive experience in the field of International Education since 2001. He has worked in several international schools in Egypt and Qatar. He is an accomplished IB educator and highly experienced with 17 years of experience in international schools. He is also an IB workshop leader and CIS Evaluation team visitor.  

In 2011 Ahmed joined the rich and diverse ISL community. Ahmed enjoys the outdoors, travelling and spending time with his family.


Alison Alberghini, Learning Support Coordinator

Alison Alberghini holds a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Studies, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology and a Masters in Special Education. Alison has had over 15 years of experience working in education most of which has been working in special educational Needs settings. She has worked in China for 12 years prior to Qatar and is most comfortable working in International schools enjoying the diversity it brings. Alison enjoys being part of a team that is caring, flexible, supportive who share a common goal of wanting to see all students succeed.
